looks doable
sandwich some seeds between plastic netting and paper. perhaps even using plastic canvas as boards so the roots have somewhere to go.
i wonder what kind of grass that is.

hmm i wonder of mung beans would make it curly?

A few Mexican villages specialise in little (two-hand's long) terracotta donkeys, with shallow scored grooves all over the sides. You dunk the 'bowl donkey' in water and scatter seeds over it. The germinate as they are stuck in the grooves, making a beautiful grass donkey appear after several weeks.

I think these are ubiquitous in gift shops but I may be mistaken.
